A few days ago I was in my pre-sleep state, quietening my mind in preparation for the night ahead. As I moved into that dreamy kind of place it seemed like I was given a glimpse through a peephole into the imagination of God in the time before Creation was given form. But it was more than just an outside glimpse. It was like I was floating in the sea of God’s dreaming – His imagination – His Forethought.
As I was filled with an inexpressible contentment it was as though my individuation melted and I was one with Ruach (Spirit). Then as I was “in” this place of dreaming, the images of various animals and creatures began to form in my mind’s eye. These were the unusual ones, the inexplicable ones, the ones that are just funny to look at!
One by one they formed and it was like Father was immersing me in His imagination in the time before Time. He was showing me this one then that and we were just laughing together! I felt a radiant joy spread throughout my being and my entire face smile as each creature came before me. The joy spread from the place of my own imagination into every cell and fibre of my body and every corner of my soul.
Such fun! such joy! Such a blissful glimpse into the dreaming of God!
The encounter may or may not have been long in terms of minutes, but the glimpse was enough to remind me that it is in THIS place of the dreaming and imagination of God that I was formed! The utter Fullness and All-ness, the endlessness of Divine Love. My being was both dreamed into being in this place and is held there with all the care and tenderness of the One Who loves me with an everlasting love.
Oh that this glimpse would be my portion! To “dwell in the house of the Lord forever” (Ps 23:6)
